Rua da solidaridade /The road of solidarity
Mural painted for Walk&Talk public art festival Azores Portugal

My intention with this and all my murals is to create an artwork that has meaning to the community who will live with the mural.

I was invited to participate at the Matheran Green Festival 2015 in India

My experience of painting this wall was unforgettable!
Everyone looked after me and just wanted to help me.
The conditions were pretty extreme but with the help of so many people the process was enjoyable
I was treated so well and I think people really appreciated this mural.
The entire experience in India was nothing short of Magic

The murals title is ‘EARTH’ and is the continuation a series of works looking at and fragmenting the relationship between human and nature.

Special thanks to Sukant for making this happen

New mural: The Abstract and the Absolute

I have just completed a new mural here in Melbourne as part of my residency body of work; ‘The abstract and the absolute’ witch explores the relationship between human and nature and how it has become so distant and filtered behind a lens or a screen. This experience becomes a photocopy of another copy distorted and abstracted through reproduction.
The idea is that the mural is not a painting of nature but rather a painting of a photocopy of nature.

Solo show: THE NATURE OF OUR PRESENCE Artwork, opening night and gallery view photos.

Photos are now up here:

Solo exhibition by Ricky Lee Gordon (Freddy Sam): THE NATURE OF OUR PRESENCE
Ricky Lee Gordon, aka Freddy Sam, will have is first solo exhibition at the Worldart gallery in Cape Town from 5 to 27 March. The exhibition consists of recently completed paintings that are the result of an exploration of the relationship between human and nature.

“This body of work acts like a mirror; reflecting, fragmenting and distorting on the existence of man in nature and exploring the presence of nature. We map things out and then create our own perception, often distorting that perception.
Like a meditation the process reflects on the self, allowing for a transformation and new perception.” Says Gordon.

The nature of our presence opens on March month’s First Thursday gallery night and concludes on 27 March 2015.
