"Sunrise. Sunset. We all share the same sun"
Words from the Artist:
”My wall in Russia was a special experience. On arriving at the wall the morning of day two, there were several people from the community literally screaming at organizers and council representatives. They hated the mural! They hadn't been shown a sketch and thought what was on the wall looked like ‘death’. All fair as they hadn't been shown my vision and my first days work was just black and red. I was told the mural will be cancelled. I requested to speak to the community with the help of translator. I went on to explain the meaning and my intentions of making a mural that symbolizes interconnectedness of human and nature and human and human. How we all share the same sun.
I asked them to let me finish the wall and then to decide if they wish to have it or remove it.
It warmed my heart as then through the day as I made progress, and the mural started to take shape, I started to receive glowing smiles, friendly waves and cheers of encouragement. The mural was celebrated by the community and through this experience will forever belong to them.
This is why I paint murals. Art has this power of connection and transformation.”
